Gadget Dependency: A Current State of 21st Century Youth?

The beginning of the 21st Century also marked the start of revolutionary technology. Modern televisions, computer, video game consoles, and smart phones escalated the attention of the people especially the youth.

In the present day, technology has been useful to the youth and their education. Making projects and doing homeworks and tasks have been easy to do; just a few clicks on the web and you’re done. Anyone can do a research about someone or something with no sweat. Gadgets can keep teens entertained and kids quiet.

Gadgets play various roles on students. Some people see gadgets as status symbols; some needs them to avoid social interactions. They are also a lot easier to use to gather information or to jot down notes that they are often used in classrooms.

Agree, people of all ages benefit from them. Gadgets have been a tool for learning and entertainment. But the thing is, gadgets steal the sincere and healthy communication with loved ones, the values of family relations and the value of education to the youth.

The students tend to make use of gadgets more than their intended purpose. Study shows that young aduts spend an average time of more than 6 hours per day in front of gadgets. It is awful to know that kids expertly know how to operate gadgets more than doing basic algebra or even washing the dishes.

Gadgets are too easy to use that the students depend on them. Instead of using them for educational purposes, it results to poor academic performance. It is ironic to use things for a benefit of something good but bears fruits of its downside.

The youth must overcome the Gadget Dependency before it’s too late. Spend time on more important things. It is better to see the faces of your loved ones and your diploma than the screen of your future probable dilemma.
